Grand Theft Auto V is set to release on PS4 and Xbox One November 18 and on January 27 on PC, with a host of changes and improvements in tow.
The news comes after weeks of speculation and proves that a recent leak by a retailer was completely correct. But while it’s exciting to hear that we’ll finally be able to jump back into Los Santos before too long, what’s even more impressive is the improvements Rockstar is saying we’ll be able to see.
Capcom is set to remaster the original Resident Evil yet again for Xbox 360 and Xbox One. A ground-up overhaul that sports 1080p visuals on the new consoles, the game will be available via digital platforms in early 2015.
The new version of the game offers more detailed characters and backgrounds plus remastered 5.1 surround sound effects. It can be played using the original 4:3 display ratio or 16:9 widescreen, and includes both the classic control scheme or an alternative, modern scheme where the character follows the direction of the analogue stick. These can be switched between at any point during play.
“Originally released in 1996, Resident Evil was then “remade” in 2002 from the ground up with new visuals, gameplay elements, environments and story details whilst retaining the survival horror atmosphere the series had become synonymous for,” notes the release.
“Both fans of the franchise who want a trip down memory lane and those who are yet to experience the game that coined the term survival horror for the gaming world will appreciate this definitive re-visit of that iconic 2002 Resident Evil title.”
What do you think? Worth buying thrice?
The Comic Con panel that had Mass Effect fans dying to go to San Diego is officially available online. The video above has been published via BioWare Base’s YouTube channel and it contains the entirety of the approximately 30-minute long panel. In it, BioWare discusses how making the fourth entry in the space opera franchise has been going and the ideas that they are working towards to make it stand out.
With looks at models as they appear during their current stage of development, the panel shows off a good amount of what is in store for fans of Mass Effect, including the return of a newly redesigned “Mako”. Of course they are not treading old ground with this one, instead they are looking to make everything about building the world of Mass Effect even bigger and taking it even further than they have before. The panel offers glimpses at early landscapes and is in no way reflective of the final product, but it does serve as a wonderful teaser to the long-awaited next entry in the franchise that has entranced millions (including many of us here at Twinfinite).
A listing has cropped up on the official website of next month’s Gamescom convention which seems to point towards an ‘Action-adventure & RPG’-related announcement from Fallout and The Elder Scrolls publisher Bethesda Softworks.
Nestled firmly within a bevy of announcements and reveals the listing is slight but could point towards something much bigger. Headed by the title of ‘’Bethesda Softworks ZeniMax Germany GmbH”, the listing’s profile doesn’t give too much away, despite saying that the showing is ‘’Action-adventure, role-playing game”-orientated. Whether or not it’s a fully-fledged announcement or an update on existing titles remains to be seen.
That said, it’s been some four years since we’ve had an entry in the much-loved Fallout series – a stretch too long, we say. Having been conspicuously absent on the announcement front at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, it’s now prime time for publisher Bethesda Softworks to unleash the next iteration in its seminal sci-fi RPG series. One thing’s for sure, the publisher isn’t short on sequel potential for its smash hit IPs and there’s no shortage of fans that will lap up whatever eventually crops up.
Of course, Fallout’s only one of two major series that Bethesda Game Softworks has developed over the course of the last 10-or-so years; the procession usually involves alternating between that of Fallout and the Elder Scrolls – with the latter getting the most love recently, what with the release of The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls Online.
Crucially, one would think that if the announcement was to be Elder Scrolls Online-related then the listed entity alongside Bethesda Softworks would be ZeniMax’s online subsidiary, ZeniMax Online Studios, which deals solely with the MMO-orientated The Elder Scrolls title.
Gamescom runs from August 13-17 in Cologne, Germany.
