A listing has cropped up on the official website of next month’s Gamescom convention which seems to point towards an ‘Action-adventure & RPG’-related announcement from Fallout and The Elder Scrolls publisher Bethesda Softworks.
Nestled firmly within a bevy of announcements and reveals the listing is slight but could point towards something much bigger. Headed by the title of ‘’Bethesda Softworks ZeniMax Germany GmbH”, the listing’s profile doesn’t give too much away, despite saying that the showing is ‘’Action-adventure, role-playing game”-orientated. Whether or not it’s a fully-fledged announcement or an update on existing titles remains to be seen.
That said, it’s been some four years since we’ve had an entry in the much-loved Fallout series – a stretch too long, we say. Having been conspicuously absent on the announcement front at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, it’s now prime time for publisher Bethesda Softworks to unleash the next iteration in its seminal sci-fi RPG series. One thing’s for sure, the publisher isn’t short on sequel potential for its smash hit IPs and there’s no shortage of fans that will lap up whatever eventually crops up.
Of course, Fallout’s only one of two major series that Bethesda Game Softworks has developed over the course of the last 10-or-so years; the procession usually involves alternating between that of Fallout and the Elder Scrolls – with the latter getting the most love recently, what with the release of The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls Online.
Crucially, one would think that if the announcement was to be Elder Scrolls Online-related then the listed entity alongside Bethesda Softworks would be ZeniMax’s online subsidiary, ZeniMax Online Studios, which deals solely with the MMO-orientated The Elder Scrolls title.
Gamescom runs from August 13-17 in Cologne, Germany.
Deep Silver has announced that Metro Redux will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC from August 26 in North America and August 29 in Europe.
The collection includes completely remastered versions of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. The Redux version of Metro 2033 has been rebuilt using Last Light‘s engine, and features a day and night cycle, the ability to wipe your character’s mask clean, higher levels of detail, and redone cinematic. While the Redux version of Last Light is also getting a graphical upgrade, along with two fan-requested features: the ability to check their watch and inventory.
Players will have the option of two modes in both games: Survival or Spartan. Survival is based on Metro 2033‘s play style with limited supplies and ammo and tougher AI, while Spartan offers faster-paced action with more resources more akin to Last Light.
Both titles will run at 60 frames per second on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with the former running at 1080p and the latter at 900p.
Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux will be available to purchase digitally for $24.99 each on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, or as the Metro Redux pack at retail for $49.99.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare developer Sledgehammer Games says its going to be adding the most amount of ‘new’ to its multiplayer offering than you’ve seen in the series for a long time. What does that mean? Exploding sheep? Holy hand grenades? WHAT?
It follows confirmation from studio co-founder Michael Condrey that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare multiplayer gadgets won’t be over-powered. Anyone who’s cowered indoors during a whole match on Modern Warfare 2′s Quarry map to escape an enemy AC-130 will probably enjoy that news.
Speaking with Metro, Condrey said of changes to the shooter’s multiplayer, “We’ll have our own style. The exoskeletons are definitely in there and that’s the core of the game.
“Our multiplayer has what I’m going to call the biggest set of new, as you call it, cool gear that you’ve seen in a long time. It’s a big step forward, from three years in development we’ve been able to innovate across the game. Everything you saw [at E3]… just imagine what that’s going to mean for multiplayer. You’re going to find that new is what it’s all about.”
Then, speaking with Forbes, Condrey touched on all of the exo-suit skills and gadgets seen in the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare E3 2014 demo, such as cycled grenades and more.
He said, “Well, you can imagine that we want all these toys in multiplayer somehow. We’ll have much more to share soon. But on the highest level, the Advanced soldier which our E3 demo showcased is the Advanced soldier you’ll see in multiplayer.”
The game’s out on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on November 4.
Bungie zna…
